I qualified in Sports and Remedial Massage in 2010 and I am a full silver member of The Sports Massage Association, Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage and also The Federation of Holistic Therapists.
I played international level lacrosse for over 10 years, competing in two World Championships and it was during this time that I first came across sports massage. I experienced first hand the benefits of a good quality sports massage for reducing muscular soreness, tightness and fatigue and preventing injury.
Now as a mum of two, I also know the benefits of massage to the non sports person, to reduce stress or tension and help relieve and resolve that nagging ache or pain.
For the 2011 / 2012 season I worked with the women's Wales Lacrosse Team and was their sports massage therapist for the Home Internationals Tournament and European Championships, where they won the Silver medal. It was a great experience to move from player to medical team and an excellent opportunity to work with elite athletes.
I thoroughly enjoy combining my love of sport with practicing soft tissue therapy. From helping an individual get back on their feet again to walk their dog, complete a pain-free round of golf or play some social tennis right through to supporting an athlete while they train for their next competition.
I continually look to progress my skills and keep abreast of developments within soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation. In 2016/17 I carried out 6 days of JEMS® Movement Systems training, with physiotherapist Joanne Elphinston and completed parts 1, 2 and 3 of Functional Foundations of Movement. I have also recently completed a mentorship programme with Cor-Kinetic, focusing on clinical reasoning for rehabilitation; and in October 2017 I started my MSc in Sports Therapy at London Metropolitan University.
